About us

SUN MAG is a quarterly cultural magazine, intended to share views about the cultural traditions in Hinduism. It is written by a mauritian editing team, so we also share how festivals are celebrated in Mauritius. Sometimes, other big festivals celebrated by other ethnic groups are also included, covered or explained. This reflects the beauty of the Mauritian Culture, where all the ethnic groups live in harmony and accommodates each other's belief and faith.

SUN MAG is thus meant to educate readers about the different festivals and rituals. It is helpful for Mauritian settled abroad, as it helps them to keep in touch with their motherland.

Overview of Issue 9 August 2009

In this issue, we have a wonderful collection of articles and pieces of research about Sri Krishna. First, a brief introduction to Sri Krishna and different arrays of his life is given.  Then, we will have a look at his birth and its implications to date, without forgetting the legend behind how he was born.  We have included an article on how he saved the Gokulam by lifting Govardhanagiri and how this event is celebrated as the Govinden Thiruvizha.  We also researched into his message to Sri Arjuna on the battlefield (that day coincided with his birthday) and why he is so often depicted as a charming youthful deity.  You will also find an article on His departure from the earthly world.  Finally, we look into the divine love of Radha for Sri Krishna, which earned Radha the status of a deity.
